Also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, Skin Needling has been around since the early 1900’s and is used in today’s world to treat many skin concerns ranging from scarring to hyperpigmentation.
The advancement in technology around this modality of treatment has advanced into what we now refer to as a stamping method. We use the Dermapen treatment here at Pure Aesthetics and in short, this is an advanced, non-surgical cosmetic procedure used to reduce wrinkles, smoker's lines, large pores, heal acne, surgical and burn scars as well as rejuvenate and tighten the skin.
The concept of skin needling is based on the skin's ability to repair itself whenever it encounters physical damage such as a cut or abrasion. Immediately after an injury occurs our skin destroys old damaged tissue and replaces it with new fresh healthy collagen.
Skin needling allows for controlled induction of the skin's self-repair mechanism by creating micro "injuries" in the skin which triggers a whole cascade of events that result in new collagen production. The result is smoother, firmer and younger looking skin down the line. This is a suitable treatment for most skin types, especially patients with acne scarring, enlarged pores and fine lines and wrinkles.
The good news is that the treatment is now more effective than ever and one should consider starting sooner rather than later - when the skin has a much greater ability to rejuvenate. If wrinkles are left and they become deeper, they are harder to treat. It is also a great idea to start treatments to prevent the dreaded sagging that takes place with ageing around the brow, jawline and neck.
